An 80-year-old woman in Santee died after a fire erupted in her home on October 8th on Ashdale Lane.
The fire took place near Beck Drive in a residential area west of Santana High School. It appears to have started in the garage of the woman’s home at around 2 PM on Sunday. A neighbor reported the flames and dark smoke coming from the house.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the incident to find a resident standing outside. The resident told deputies and firefighters that his wife was still inside. The firefighters went into the home and rescued the woman. Unfortunately she died after she was taken to a nearby hospital.
In a report by The San Diego Union-Tribune, the woman was said to have suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
