A man was killed after two vehicles struck him while he walked across Lilac Road near Hideaway Lake Road in Valley Center on May 16, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the 32-year-old man was walking southbound across Lilac Road when he was hit by a Nissan SUV around 8:35 PM. He was then struck a second time by a Dodge Minivan that was driving behind the SUV. CHP’s Oceanside-area officers and emergency response teams arrived at the scene of the incident and tried to perform life-saving measures on the man, however he died before he could be taken to a hospital. 

The name of the victim has not yet been released to the public as it is currently pending notification of the next of kin according to The San Diego Union-Tribune. According to CHP the 19-year-old SUV driver and the 63-year-old minivan driver were not injured. Alcohol or drugs are not known factors in the crash as of yet. 

The Oceanside Police Department is still investigating the incident, according to Fox 5 San Diego.

Tragedy struck in the Paradise Hills area of San Diego when two women were killed early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash around 2:25 AM. 

A sedan headed westbound on Paradise Valley Road made a left turn toward Munda Road. It was then broadsided by an oncoming truck, the driver of which ran away after the crash. By Sunday afternoon, police had still not located the man. There were four individuals in the sedan, two of whom died at the hospital. A 25-year-old woman was the front passenger, and a 20-year-old woman was in the rear passenger seat; they both lost their lives. Currently, the names of those women are being withheld.

The driver of the sedan was a 22-year-old woman, and she suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. She was also taken to the hospital. Firefighters were forced to cut off the top of the car to extract her due to the damage done by the pickup truck crash. There was also a 25-year-old man in the rear driver’s side seat who complained of pain, but there is no indication that he went to the hospital.

A video of the incident is on YouTube, showing the completely destroyed sedan, people being loaded into an ambulance, and first-responders working tirelessly to help those trapped inside. It took more than a dozen firefighters, police officers, and EMTs to extract the injured people and load them into ambulances.
