Sam Bernstein is a trusted criminal defense and family law attorney. Sam Bernstein has represented clients on felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic tickets in 32 district courts and 12 circuit courts throughout Michigan. He helps people get their driver’s license back, through Secretary of State restoration hearings and circuit court hardship appeals. He has successfully obtained results in divorce, custody, post-judgment family law issues, and in personal protection order hearings. Sam acts as Local Counsel for two out-of-state firms in the Federal Eastern District Court in Detroit. As an active member of the legal community, Sam is a co-chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association Criminal Law Section and a co-chair of the Community Liaison position. Previously he served as the Washtenaw County New Lawyers co-president from 2014-2016. Sam was raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, graduating from Pioneer High School and Eastern Michigan University. During law school at Michigan State University, Sam worked for the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office and the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, as well as the MSU Legal Clinic.
