The Dangers of Multi-Vehicle Accidents
Multi-vehicle crashes are often far more dangerous than single-car collisions because of the chain reaction they can set off. One impact frequently leads to another, with drivers having little or no time to react. This can result in multiple vehicles colliding at high speeds, creating a violent scene where the risk of catastrophic injury or death increases significantly.
Several factors commonly contribute to multi-car accidents, including:
- Distracted or impaired driving
- Excessive speed or aggressive maneuvers
- Poor weather or visibility
- Dangerous road design or lack of adequate lighting
- Vehicles veering into opposing lanes
Accountability in these cases can be complex. Depending on the circumstance, liability may rest with one or more drivers, the employer of a driver if they were operating a company vehicle, or even government entities if roadway design contributed to the crash.
“Our hearts go out to Mr. Bordyczewski’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” says Gerald Singleton, managing partner of Singleton Schreiber. “Multi-vehicle collisions can be devastating, both in their physical impact and in the complex legal issues they create. Holding the right parties accountable is critical so that families can find justice and closure.”
Legal Options for Families After a Fatal Crash
Losing a loved one in a multi-car accident is devastating, both emotionally and financially. Families may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim against those responsible. These claims can provide compensation for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Lost income and financial support the deceased would have provided
- Loss of companionship, love, and guidance
- Emotional pain and suffering experienced by surviving family members
In cases like this, determining liability can be complex, involving multiple drivers, companies, or public entities. An experienced wrongful death attorney can investigate the circumstances, gather evidence, and identify every potential source of accountability to ensure that families receive the justice and compensation they are entitled to.
